The Glasshouse Packing List

We’ve reached summer holiday peak, where we’re all either planning, dreaming or jetting off on a getaway and probably carting a jam-packed suitcase with us. Travel, sea and sun can play havoc with our hair and beauty routines so we thought we’d pick the brains of the Glasshouse team and find out what they’re taking on their holidays this year. And the best news is you can get all the products online at Glasshouse Shop and in the salon, saving you from a luggage-induced meltdown…

Lauren O’Neill - Binchotan Charcoal Eye Mask

“This summer I’m going on a trip to the US which means lots of travelling, two fairly long flights and the prospect of not getting a lot of rest. I’ll be packing my Binchotan Charcoal Eye Mask to help me sleep when I can - I love the silvery satin fabric and I know it’ll make me feel a little bit luxurious, even when I’m hours into my flight.”

Mia Waldern - Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner with SPF 15 in Bombora

“I’m not about super strong lip colours that feel caked-on, especially when on holiday. I’ll be packing one of Ilia’s SPF 15 Tinted Lip Conditioners for softer, hydrating lip coverage. People never think to protect their lips from the sun and this makes it that little bit easier. I really rate the warm reddish Bombora colour that I’ll be dabbling on during my summer break in Provence.”

Lucy Vincent - Leonor Greyl Huile Secret De Beaute

“I’ve been known to do everything in my powers to make drizzly London feel like an exotic holiday all year round. Leonor Greyl’s Huile Secret De Beaute definitely helps. It’s basically liquid gold in a bottle - a rich oil that smells of posh French pharmacies and makes your skin look glossy and glowing, whilst giving your hair light-reflecting shine. I’ll be applying it poolside in Marrakech in August - I read that this product was actually developed for Leonor Greyl’s family to use on holiday. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. Apparently it works wonders as a leave-in conditioner in the sun too, giving UV protection and smelling d-i-v-i-n-e.”

Rosie Herdman - Natural Deo Co Clean Deodorant Balm

“Sweat and summer go hand in hand. Fact. I’ve stopped using regular mainstream deodorants and am completely converted to The Natural Deodorant Co’s Vanilla & Manuka Balm instead. Firstly, it actually works and smells sweet and refreshing all at once. Secondly, it’s super gentle and only has a handful of natural ingredients in it, meaning I can keep applying through the day without any nasty chemical build-up. Perfect for the holiday handbag! I love the freedom of applying it with my hands and it also comes in a mini 15ml version to pop in your beach bag.”

Olivia Crighton - RMS Lip2Cheek, “Un” Cover-up, Master Mixer + Beauty Oil

“Travelling with makeup can sometimes be a bit of a drag, but RMS package all their products in small pots and jars, ideal for sticking in a bag and getting on a plane. For me, holiday makeup needs to be versatile and minimal - I generally go for a dabble of Lip2Cheek paired with my RMS “Un” Cover Up which is super light and coconut-oil based. For a bit more of an evening highlight look, the Master Mixer is subtle, glossy perfection and I swear by my Beauty Oil after cleansing for glow and nourishment.”

Anna Maki - Jane Iredale Powder Me SPF Powder in Translucent

“I’ve been in Croatia and Finland already this summer and loved not wearing any makeup. This powder’s translucent and also has SPF 30 so I just swept it across my bare face every couple of hours for sun protection and a bit of sweaty-skin blotting too. The great thing about it is that is gives a translucent finish, leaving no powdery-ness and acting as a sunscreen at the same time.”

Ashleigh Hornell - Organic Colour Systems’ Keep Curl Memory Gel

“I’m jetting off to Portugal and Morocco this summer - the weather in both is likely to be sweltering and I’m fully planning on ditching the hair dryer for two weeks. Scrunching a little dollop of Organic Colour Systems’ Keep Curl Memory Gel into wet hair and leaving it to dry naturally will help define natural movement and keep it looking beachy-fresh.”

Sky Cripps-Jackson - Guy Morgan Black Thorn Facial Oil and Himalayan Salt Clay Mask

“With all the air-con, aerosols and time zone shifts, I’m constantly aware of dehydration and its effect on my skin. I always love to have a couple of Guy Morgan products with me when I travel for work. The Black Thorn Facial Oil is great applied in light layers every couple of hours (and is also part of my daily routine). Sometimes I also like to apply the Himalayan Salt Mask when I arrive, especially if I’m unpacking after a long journey or when we’re back late from shows and unwinding over a few glasses of wine. Leaves your skin feeling so soft and fresh!”

Lucy Rickard - Organic Colour Systems’ Status Quo Protect Leave-in

“I can’t wait for my holiday to Ibiza this summer and am planning on spending as little time as possible on my hair. It’s lightened so does need some kind of protection in the heat, which is why I’m reaching for Organic Colour Systems’ Status Quo Protect Leave-in which is designed to minimise damage from sun, sea, chlorine and heat. Whether it’ll protect from late nights and excessive partying is another matter… Anyway, I’ll spray it through my hair in the morning and leave it all day, reapplying after swimming if I need to.”
