Reads: LA Flower Market

Flora and fauna are synonymous with Spring. With British Summer Time officially underway, what better Reads to signify the end of the Easter holidays than Mansur Gavriel’s debut publication, LA Flower Market.

Published at the end of 2017, each cleany lit photograph epitomises the fashion house’s signature campaign style - understated and beautiful. The synergy is no surprise given the compilation is shot by long term collaborators Tanya and Zhenya Posternak.

The Ukranian twins, who are renowned for their colourful and humanistic observations, document the unique floral varieties that adorn LA’s historic district. This, paired neatly with casually strewn hose pipes and cellophane, symbolises the location that planted the seed for Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel and culminated in the launch of their eponymous label. The aforementioned design duo are responsible for creating a series of sought-after accessories, namely the “bucket” bag. Since launching in 2012 with just two styles, the team have gone on to create a selection of streamlined, conceptual products, functional for everyday use.

Speaking of their journey together in AnOther online, the Posternacks muse: “We have grown together in this time. They have taught us so much. And strangely enough, we have learned to appreciate nature – an incredible source of inspiration – as never before.”

Glasshouse Salon have fallen head over heels for twins iconic close-ups, renowned as the “Posternack crop.” The documentation of which not only acts as a great source of artistic inspiration, but make us want to run down to Columbia Road Market and ensure we tend to our plants a little more carefully than usual. Their photographic compilation marks the juxtaposition between nature and urban life, and is not a far cry from the hustle and bustle of London’s abundant streets.

LA Flower Market (1/1000) is now available to purchase over on Antenne Books.
