Local Loves: Sans Pere

Local Loves: Sans Pere

Shuffle down Broadway Market and you will no doubt will of spot the dusty pink facade of lifestyle house, Sans Pere. A sister project of their first multi-faceted site in Shoreditch, the French Bistro offers refined treats for those with a sweet tooth. If there’s one thing that’s been missing from London Fields, it’s a bar specialising in boozy cocktails and the perfect dessert. We can’t wait to meet the new kid on the block.

Peer inside and you’ll find no small detail has gone unnoticed. From the carefully curated homeware courtesy of Hay, to the slick marble counter tops, the space oozes sophistication and warmth. Whether you’re after a light afternoon bite with friends or cosy evening rendez-vous, the ambience evolves from day to night through subtle changes in the lighting and tableware.

Founder, Barney Goff, describes the location as “a space which evokes the romance of traditional Parisian bars and the glamour of rue Saint-Honoré‘s fashion houses. The daytime is simple, lighthearted and mellow, whilst the evening is sophisticated and seriously playful.” Like Glasshouse, Sans Pere is all about paring back. We love the way these food connoisseurs have targeted sweet treats and executed it with perfection.

The menu of both classic and seasonal desserts has been created by head pastry chef, Roberto Mele. His experience spent at The Fat Duck and Alan Yau’s Park Chinois manifests itself in an experimental sweet and savoury menu. Feast on options such as raspberry, milk chocolate and earl grey entremet or a vegan mint panna cotta with beetroot foam and chocolate soil. Each innovative dessert is paired with a homemade cocktail, incorporating classic french ingredients.

If you’re looking for a fully immersive experience away the hustle and bustle of East London, then look no further. In the meantime, you’ll find us at the bar, spoon in hand. Images courtesy of Sans Pere 15 Broadway Market, London E8 4PH
