However nice it is to indulge in lots (and lots) of food over Christmas, when January comes around we are definitely ready for a little detox. This vibrant green smoothie is a great way to kick start a healthier eating plan, as it’s loaded with health benefits and flavour.

Chia seeds contain so much goodness, as they are the highest plant based source of omega 3 fatty acids, essential for a healthy heart. The two tablespoons in this smoothie also provide 10 grams of fibre, almost half your daily requirement.

Kale is the perfect way for vegetarians to get iron into their diet, and blueberries contain high levels of antioxidants- all that in a delicious tasting and looking green smoothie!

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana, cut up and frozen
½ cup blueberries
2 teaspoons ginger, peeled and finely grated
2 cups kale leaves, loosely packed
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
Pinch of ground cinnamon
½ to 1 tablespoon raw honey (depending on taste!)
