Studio Nicholson: Pre-Fall 2016

’Tis the season of roll necks, merino wool, boxy sweatshirts and long sleeves - and who does it better than Studio Nicholson? Last time we caught up with the clothing brand’s leading lady, Nick Wakeman, she taught us a thing or two about the label’s signature aesthetic. “I like to use Japanese textiles and denim. It’s got a certain look to it that I love” she told us, and the brand’s menswear-inspired pieces certainly speak for themselves.

Their recently released Pre-Fall Collection has had us particularly hot under the collar (or roll neck). Function and structure meet ochre, navy, cream and khaki in a collection of Autumnal hits that will quite literally go with everything in your wardrobe (and make it look 10 times cooler). To accompany the collection, the brand have released a series of moodboard-worthy images and proven that a shaggy bob is all you need to accessorise your seasonal basics.

We’ve long been fans of Studio Nicholson’s modern interpretation of femininity - where functionality, tailoring and comfort take the place of tight shapes and unnecessary fuss and frills. Their latest collection is no different and reflects Nick’s thinking behind the label’s design process: “It’s more about the formula behind getting dressed” she told us previously, “Grey, navy blue, white, black, that is all boys have in their wardrobe. They go to get dressed in the morning and it’s easy, and that’s what I try to do for women.” With simple, smart shapes and a focus on quality, we couldn’t be more into this new collection or the equally sharp lookbook. Revisit our interview with Nick and shop the new collection here.
